The Social Network: One of My Favorite Films

Photo from Internet Movie Poster Awards Film: The Social Network Director: David Fincher Length: 2h Genre: Drama/Historical Drama              Rating: PG-13 Released: Oct. 1, 2010 Where to watch: Amazon Prime Vide o      Greetings everyone!      Today’s discussion will center around the film, The Social Network. Personally, I love this film. I think it’s perfect and shouldn’t be changed in any way.       This film has been one of my favorites for a while now. I used to watch this film everyday when I was a freshman since it is a comfort film of mine.       If you don’t know, this film is about the creation of Facebook. This is based off of a true story which in my opinion, makes it better, however, according to Google, it is considered a biographical drama film so keep in mind that some of the film is fiction. It not only goes through the creation of what is now the mega-popular...

Wicked Part 1: I "heart" musicals

Photo from Internet Movie Poster Awards Film: Wicked Director: Jon M. Chu Length: 2h 40m Genre: Musical/Fantasy Rating: PG Released: Nov. 22, 2024      I can’t believe it’s already December!      The film of today's conversation is Wicked: Part 1. Like many others, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and have now watched it a couple times. Admittedly, I haven't seen the Broadway production or read the book. I have seen The Wizard of Oz, but I haven't watched it enough to be able to connect the two films on my own.       This film was highly anticipated by myself, but I believe by many others as well. I didn’t watch any media that would tell me what happened in the film regarding the plot, so most of the videos I watched before seeing the film were interviews. I don't like seeing anything that could give parts of the film away before actually watching it because I think it ruins the in-theater experience of seeing it for the first time....

Gladiator II: Is It The Whole Story?

Photo from Internet Movie Poster Awards Film: Gladiator II Director: Ridley Scott Length: 2h 28m Genre: Action/Adventure Rating: Restricted Released: Nov. 22, 2024 What a week for films!      The film that will be discussed today is Gladiator II. I feel the need to mention that yes, I have watched the first one and yes, I do think it is important to watch the first film before watching the sequel. If you have watched the first one; I do recommend rewatching the first one just to refresh your memory but I will say it isn’t necessary. I haven’t heard many people talking about this film since it came out so I don’t know of anyone else’s opinions.       I’ll be honest, going into the theater I was worried that the film wouldn’t be a good sequel. I didn’t think it would tie in to the first one well, if at all. I am pleased to say that I was incorrect. It was well made. I think the general concepts of the story are good and it makes ...

Pride and Prejudice

Photo from International Movie Database Film: Pride and Prejudice   Directors: Joe Wright  Length: 2h 7m Genre: Romance/Comedy Rating: Parental Guidance Released: Nov. 11, 2005      Hey Friends!       This week I will be writing about one of my favorite films, Pride and Prejudice. I first watched this film maybe eight years ago and it quickly became one of my favorites. I will also note that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book of all time, not just my favorite classic novel.       This is a film where you kind of know what’s going to happen before it happens. Yet, that doesn’t make the story less enjoyable. It’s a story that can never get old no matter if it’s the film or the book. This was a film that I thought had a good film adaptation. What I will say is the famous line “You have bewitched me body and soul,” is not in my edition of the book. I can’t find it. I’ve Googled the page number, the chapt...

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Iron Man

Photo from Internet Movie Poster Awards    How fun is this!      Alright everyone, today is not just a film, but a film series. That’s correct! Today we are discussing Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3. We won’t be discussing them in separate sections, but I will talk about what I have noticed over the span of the three films collectively. So, recently my partner and I have taken on the task of watching all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films because I haven’t seen many of them. We will be watching these in chronological order; in order of when they happened in the universe, not in order of which they were released. We just finished the eighth film so remember my judgment is passed only after watching maybe 12 films. However, this means we have watched all of the Iron Man films. For some reason, Iron Man has been on my mind for about a week.       Fun fact, when I was a kid, Iron Man was my favorite even though I had not seen the fi...
